Still looking

This process is slow, I know. But we want to find the right person. We have seen a couple of videos that we are interested in. We have met with one person that sent a video and we are trying to schedule a time for her to come in. JB and I are both out sick today. Its the third sick day we taken in 13 years. Can any of you beat that? Our boss, Cat said something the other day that made me think. We are looking to upgrade our show with the next person we hire. If you are applying, will you upgrade the show. We got ratings last week and we have the largest audiance in Austin (thank you for listening) and we want a bigger one. What can you bring to the table that will help us do that. Again, it is one of those things that we will know it when we see it or hear it. Until then, I'm stuck doing traffic.

Video's

Hey guys, I just wanted to jump in here and let you now that we are looking at all the videos. Some are good, some are great and some are really really bad. What is funny is that it is exactly like the tapes we are getting from pro's that are already in the business. Some are good, some are great and some are really, really bad. I wish I could explain what we are looking for, but it is kind of like something that is obscene....you know it when you see it. We are in no hurry to fill this job. In fact, I am wondering if we even need a sidekick at all. The show seems to be moving along just fine without one. Maybe it is just me. Regarding the comments, we TOTALLY can tell when you have asked your friends to log in and comment..we find it funny. You have to be able to take the comments from the people that aren't your friends with a grain of salt, both good and bad. This is a great job. There are alot of good times and some stressful ones, like Wednesday when we get ratings. Very stressful, not fun, exhausting. If you get the job, be ready to work like a dog. If you want to be a star, try out for reality TV. This is not the ticket to stardom. If you are serious about radio, it is a grind, it is frustrating, it is embarassing, it is exciting, it is rewarding, it is alot more than just "Chatting" on the radio. Once bitten by the radio bug it is tough to get away from it. Good luck.

Peace.

Sorry Phyllis. I tried posting your video. It was posted using another site. It worked and I could embed it, but it swallowed up this entire blog and messed it up. I had to remove it. If you would like to repost your vid on youtube, I will gladly post it. jb

Question about the job

Hey I'm curious about the chances of a guy getting the job. I'm a 25 year old guy working as a radio DJ in Olympia WA. This job sounds great so I'd love to move from one capital city to another. So are you looking strictly for females or should I throw my name into the hat?

__________________________________________

We don't know what we are looking for. The job is open to anyone. It's sort of a "we'll know it when we see it sort of thing". Open to men/women youger/older. Just looking for someone interesting.

Question about out of towners

I am going to be sending in my video today, however, I wanted to make sure that you are alright with people submitting a video, when they dont live locally right now? Would we still be considered??

Thanks! Hope to hear from you soon!

Yep, this is fine. We are looking at people in other cities as well. jb

Tour of MIX 94.7

We thought you might like to see where you might be working. This is a very quick tour of MIX 94.7. We start in the elevator and make our way to the studio and the morning show office. Enjoy.

A Tip For Your Video

Tanks for checking this out. If you are just reading for pleasure with no inention of applying for the job, keep checking back. The videos should be coming in soon and we will be posting them here. If you are planning on submitting a video here is a small tip. Try to do something in the first 30 seconds that gets our attention. Pretty vague I know, but you have to get our attention. If you are boring in the first 30 seconds, we won't even see the last 1:30. Good luck.

Question about privacy

I would love to send in a video, but, as you mentioned, I am worried about people I work with seeing it. Two questions...One, can we send in a video in a way that just you guys can see it? Two, can we send in a photo or anything else?

__________

We totally understand if some people need to keep this private. If that is the case, when you upload your video to www.youtube.com, select a private setting and select that no other parties can embed your video. From your youtube account, you can opt to share your video privately, so we can see it, but it wouldn't be posted online. Would prefer to be able to post any video, but we understand that this is not an option for everyone, especially those who would be leaving their current job to take this.
Send photo's, send baked goods, whatever you want. Have fun, be creative...so what you think it takes to express your personality and get noticed. jb

Question about time frame

My techie husband is visiting family in Israel til Monday the 7th. I can figure it out by then if that won't be too late!

______________

No, this will not be too late. We don't know if this is going to take 2 weeks or 6 months. Submitting something earlier would be better but we doubt anything will happen in the next 3 to 4 weeks. Plenty of time to get your video submitted. Would be in the best interest of anyone going for this job to try to gain some momentum early. Good luck. jb

Question about submitting video

This came from someone interested in the job.

I plan on submitting a video application for Autumn's spot on your morning show. However, I am having a hard time deciding which way/ways to express my creative side (or just editting it down to the couple minutes like you asked). I know you don't have any set "rules" for this, so to speak, but I figured I could solve my little dilemma by posting multiple, two minute long videos. Is that ok?
_______

Yes, feel free to submit multiple videos. Any way you feel like you might get an advantage and gain some interest or following from listeners. Go for it. Great idea.
